November Special, and a message from Lisa Wells, RN

I must first apologize for just now making this blog for November. This month has been very busy in that we have been moving to a new location, and also because our site has been moved to a new and improved server.

In my life personally I have been very busy and very sad because my little ring neck dove is ill and has been ill since the beginning of November. She is 14 years old, and has been with me through all these years. She had a biopsy for an area on the side of her body, and since Nov 5 I have had to give her medicines throughout the day and also apply medicine to the infected areas on her body.
It took 1 week and a change in doctors before a wound culture was done, and then it took another week for the culture results to return, which showed that the bacteria were resistant to the 2 antibiotics she had been taking. She has now been on an antibiotic that the organisms are susceptible to since Sunday so hopefully she will now begin to heal.

It breaks my heart to see her ill and in pain. Her doctor prescribed 2 pain medications that I give her, and I must watch her closely, to keep her from picking the infected areas on her skin. I feel sure those who have pets understand how I am feeling. I will continue to do everything possible to help her recover.
